Gotta love it!
As some of y'all know I have a minor dislike for feral hogs. I find em ugly, mean, destructive illegal aliens. Second only to fire ants as the devil's favorite pet far as I can tell.
Last night was the latest round in our attempt to eradicate a few of em.
This was my third time to this particular part of The Great State.
Trip one Tater and I saw pigs but spooked em with the truck drivin thru the pasture.
Trip two Tater, Ian and I heard pigs, coyotes, and somebody gigglin.
Trip Three just Tater and I, since Ian is a responsible member of society and workin One Million Hours a week.
This trip we did more preplanning** and decided to sit on a hill we thought had promise. About sundown we started to set up, both of us loaded down like mules crashin thru the woods. Found a nice over watch and started lookin about and saw 5 pigs rootin up the field below. I tell ya, when I called pigs! Tater looked at me like I was smokin crack. Him bein the professional animal killer and all, he usually sees em first. We dropped all our junk, loaded up the rifles and took a quick peek. Yup, two sows and three little ones. Tater told me to take the one on the left in 3,2,1 I was impressed how well we timed it, both shot within a whisker of the other. Pigs slowly walked, then ran after a few stumble steps. Both us fired again and had two distinctive misses.
Debate began after no blood trails found and our post set up. We were both positive of good hits on the first shots...
Half hour later the three Lil pigs from earlier came out to feed, piglets just don't wander off from momma Scratch two sow! Took a shot but missed them.
An hour or so later we got buzzed by a pig. He came in under the radar and stopped about 30 feet in front of us. Tater heard an even bigger pig commin so we held off. They then gave us a squeal when we hit the spot light, but they hit a slight dip so no shot.
After a short discussion of, next time lets not wait to shoot we settled back in.
Thirty minutes later a 180 lb range boar came in to about 20 feet. The .06 nailed him, causin him to roll a few feet down the hill with a squeak. He was a pretty hefty boy, glad he dropped so fast.
After this it quieted down and we called it.
Tater went back at first light, and found the two sows in heavy brush, both of em runnin close to 150 lbs. Sometimes they just don't bleed externally. It was great clearin both them girls out. Pigs can breed at 6-8months of age, havin an average litter size of 8 . Y'all do the math.
The way I see it is if they have 8 piglets, 10 of em live.
**Cindy has informed me the term preplanning is redundant. It is an old Fire Department term, and hey ya don't git more redundant then the F.D.

I am bad?
Today, after my Wife came back from stimulating the economy with her momma, her mom realized I was writing emails to my State and Federal elected officials. Just a friendly Howdy and a what have you done? kinda email. Seriously y'all, send email, call, stop on in their offices, they work for you, remind em that locals put em in place and to not forgit their roots. Heck, I didn't even vote for one of em, but she is still accountable to my community. To our two Senators I asked em if they were Washingtonians or Texans.
I also asked them to talk to the head of Homeland Security. I found if VERY offensive that they have made statements about our returning vets, and to watch out before they turn into another McVey. I also was annoyed to find out I am a right wing extremist according to this report from DHS.
Hmmm, when did supporting strong borders, a strong Constitution, believing in God, and thinking my State government is better at knowin what I want over the Feds make me bad?
I am still confused how the Media has conveniently forgot/hidden the fact that EVERY governmental massacre of the 20th century was a from leftist/liberal. Pretty darn sure Rawanda was leftist rebels, but they have such long tribal memories it is hard to tell. Think about the rest: Hitler=Nazi (Short for National Socialist), Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro=communists. I know I am forgiting more then a few in my list here, sorry.
My point is How am I bad again?

What the hell?
This was the opening paragraph of a story in the Ft. Worth Star Telegram:
Arlington police want help from the public in identifying the man who, armed with an assault-style pistol, recently robbed a GameStop store in the 2500 block of East Arkansas Lane
So, I am a fairly educated gun owner and would like to know what the hell is an "assault-style" pistol? Is this another term for a machine pistol or a new anti-gun jab by the media types?

Howdy from the couch
It has been a long week. I started landscapin with my buddy Pete, and it has worn me down! I'm just glad Pete the professional scaper has worn down just as quick. I keep workin at this pace and I'll be back in my size 32 jeans!
So, today we had six pallets of sod, ten yards of dirt, and a bunch of chippin to do. We discussed it and I made a run for day labor. Here in Texas (and I assume elsewhere) we have parts of town where you pull up, tell em how many and they pile on in.
I needed three, got em, and was makin the drive back to the job site when I started hearin em jabberin away. Seems like my radio was on a talk station and they didn't agree what was bein said by Laura Ingram! Kinda funny...
I don't really have much else to talk bout, kinda tired. Better make it to the shower before my wife has a stroke I'm sittin on the couch. I'll leave y'all with another funny child in church story.
One Sunday in a Midwest City , a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour. The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle. Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out.

Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation, "Pray for me! Pray for me!"

This made me laugh!
The preacher was wired for sound with a lapel mike, and as he preached, he moved briskly about the platform, jerking the mike cord as he went. Then he moved to one side, getting wound up in the cord and nearly tripping before jerking it again. After several circles and jerks, a little girl in the third pew leaned toward her mother and whispered, "If he gets loose, will he hurt us?"

Dunno what to title this...
So, I have been watchin the Apologize for America tour '09.
It is just so GREAT to see the President of the United States of America BOW to the King of Saudi Arabia. Then while in Turkey, he made sure our Ally, which is currently in a struggle with
extremist islam, understands that the US isn't at war with Muslims. Duh! GWB has told the world that for years. Why not take that chance to thank Turkey for remaining a moderate democracy or keeping a secular government or being a staunch Ally since the 50's or remind Turkey all we do to protect muslim women and children, or any number of other things much more relevant?
And hey, just to round out the week, cut the F-22 and any "new" defense spending. Idiots, when we have peace they undermine it by defense cuts, when we have war they undercut it by defense cuts. When the eventual attacks come blame that other guy, right?
Sorry for this rant, OUR country is the greatest in the world, and it just gauls me to see OUR President apologize to THEM. I think he missed a great chance to tell em all "Hey insurgents, don't pick up that AK then whine like a little girl when that 7.62X51 NATO cracks your buddy in the head. Pussy."

No Fear?
It has come to my attention that a few people have missed my blog. Sorry, send me an email and I will add ya on facebook where I am more active, albiet in a twitter type way.
As I was layin on the couch today after killin my back luggin dirt I started readin Yahoo! news. Several stories caught my eye. The main one was Obama meetin the Queen of England. In this article, our President said it is not appropriate to base decisions on fear, that he would listen not lecture world leaders on economic plans, and plans to intensify relations with China.
How refreshing that he wants to dump the fear tactics that got him elected! (Jerk)
I am also glad he is gonna listen and put his pointin finger away. Ya know my Grandma always said when you point a finger three more are pointing back at you.
As far as China, I would be pleased with renewed relations, as long as it is a real one. How many of us would put up with a friend who was a bully, a sadist and a pimp? China really needs to grow up. Unfortunately it is a small world and China needs to git with the times. I just don't think our current administration is gonna help with that. If you dig enough in the press it seems like what Obama says domestically and internationally seem like two different people. I have more respect for the President of France who constantly jogs in public with a F.D.N.Y or N.Y.P.D. t-shirt.
There is just so much to dislike when you read the news. I think I will wander over to Glen Beck's website now, and join his 9-12 project...
